Because the Canal du Midi has been irrigating the agricultural land of the Languedoc region for over 350 years, it is a veritable botanical conservatory. A Mediterranean garden that Paul Riquet knew and sometimes planted: aromatic plants, shrubs, ornamental and fruit trees...
Today the plane trees are disappearing, and lesser-known species are taking their place, giving the garden its original appearance.
We invite you to explore the "botanical Canal du Midi", along the site of the 9 locks, on a path where perfumes and colours, shapes and medicinal and gustatory virtues will take you by the tip of your senses... We have even prepared a "carré des délices" (square of delights), to review your range of culinary herbs. We have taken a look at the Greek, Roman, Gallic and Celtic pantheons to surprise and amuse you.
Look at them, smell them, but please don't pick or pluck anything. We look after these plants for you... and for future generations.
