The 28 September 2024
Local animation, Dedication and artist meeting
Place du 14 Juillet, 34500 BEZIERS
Alain Bauer is one of France's most prominent criminologists. He has advised the French President, the New York Police Department and major corporations. Every weekend, he and Marie Drucker host the France TV cold case program "Au bout de l'enquête". In Tu ne tueras point, his latest book, which he will be presenting at MAM, Alain Bauer offers an in-depth analysis of the violence currently shaking our society, and the place that news stories occupy in our imagination. In his view, the state is facing up to a new form of brutality, perhaps without having taken the measure of citizens? expectations. Crime is displayed on our screens, fuels conversations in bars and family gatherings, and influences politicians. From Crépol to Nîmes, by way of Cherbourg and Lyon, sordid affairs and knife attacks darken our daily lives. What does this development say about our society? Is civilization in retreat? Why do we need to look beyond the sensationalism of news stories? Professor Bauer will try to answer your questions!
The meeting will be followed by a book signing
