The 13 April 2025
Exhibition
146 Avenue de la Plage, 34410 SERIGNAN
from 10h00 to 18h00
The exhibition Êtes-vous triste? dedicated to Sophie Calle at the Mrac Occitanie, borrows its title from a question posed by the artist at the end of the text La Visite médicale.
Throughout her work, Sophie Calle continues to tell us her stories in precise, sober language, with an eye for the right word. Sometimes light and funny, sometimes serious, dramatic or cruel, these true stories, each accompanied by an image, deliver fragments of a life in a work in progress.
Alternately described as a conceptual artist, photographer, video artist and even detective, Sophie Calle has been the subject of numerous exhibitions around the world since the late 70s. She has developed an instantly recognizable practice, combining text and photography to feed a narrative that takes the form of a set of rules. In her rituals, she blurs the boundaries between the intimate and the public, reality and fiction, art and life, while leaving room for chance.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday 10-18h and weekends 13-18h.
