Mandatory reservation Born in New Jersey in 1938, Rhoda Scott is an internationally renowned jazz organist. The daughter of a pastor, she began playing the organ in church at the age of 8, quickly developing an exceptional musical sensitivity. After studying at the Manhattan School of Music, she moved to France in 1967, where her career took a decisive turn thanks to collaborations with legends such as Count Basie and producer Eddy Barclay.
Nicknamed "The Barefoot Lady" for her practice of playing barefoot, she is a master of the Hammond organ, and her unique style has led to many successful albums. In addition to her solo career, she formed the Rhoda Scott Lady Quartet, an all-female group which continues to perform in concert. Commandeur des Arts et Lettres since 2018, Rhoda Scott remains an emblematic figure of jazz, brilliantly combining tradition and innovation.
