Robert Flaherty's "Nanouk l'esquimau" was the inspiration for the idea of a film-concert as a sonic immersion in Inuit lands. Nanouk l'esquimau is the first major ethnographic documentary in the history of cinema. Introduced to the public in 1922, the film illustrates the daily life of the Inuit in the Arctic. This show, with its singular music, tinged with improvisations and sound research of all kinds, tailor-made for the image, transports the listener to a hostile land, to the crossroads of immense ice and to the encounter with the humanity of the Inuit people...
