CAFÉ PHILO – MAM

In this café philo, talk to Daniel Mercier on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Provence, on the theme of remembering or forgetting. In his book "La mémoire, l?histoire, l?oubli", Ric?ur says: "Putting memory in the imperative is the beginning of an abuse. I prefer to say the work of memory". So there are abuses of memory as well as abuses of forgetting, both on an individual and collective level? No doubt we should not oppose memory and forgetting, and opt, if possible, for a "just memory" that avoids both the obsessive memory of the same thing over and over again, and the careless forgetfulness of those who "don't want to know". Neither a rehashing of the past, nor pathological forms of forgetting?
