Marianne, a painter, is secretly commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of Héloïse, a young woman recently released from the convent. Rejecting her future as a wife, Héloïse resists the project. Within the confines of an isolated manor house, an intense, silent bond develops between the two women, between stolen glances, hindered freedom and burgeoning desire.
