Béziers Méditerranée Tourist Information brings you its top 5 tips to have an eco-friendly holiday in our beautiful region.

1. Leave the car at home

It’s the holidays so it’s time to switch gear, slow down and take your time exploring our region.

On foot: is there anything better than walking around such beautiful landscapes? Our themed trails and guided tours introduce you to everything our beautiful destination has to offer.

By bike: along the Canal du Midi, in the vines… Check out all our bike paths and MTB trails. No bike? No worries. Visit our bike hire shops.

By bus: we suggest taking the bus to cover more ground. Visit the BeeMob website for all the services and timetables. Our Tourist Information centres sell packs of 10 tickets.

2. Shop local

What better way to learn about our region than through our local produce? There are tastings, guided tours, farm shops and more. Countless producers take you around their farm or winery and introduce you to our local produce.

Our Tourist Information centres sell a selection of top local produce: wine, honey, olives, soap, jam and more. Head to the Orpellières Visitor Centre’s “Coin Gourmand” food court for a taster. View the online menu here.

3. Connect with nature and protect it

Our area is bursting with natural spaces so why not explore? The Orpellières nature reserve is a local hero! Countless protected species call the 150ha site home. The Orpellières Visitor Centre lies deep in the reserve. It includes: a permanent exhibition about the surrounding habitat, a small cinema, belvedere with unobstructed views of the surroundings and lots of things to do.

Connecting with nature means lots of outdoor activities. Which is good because we’ve got all sorts here: canoeing, paddle boarding, treetop adventure, hiking, cycling and so much more.

4. Take your time

The holidays are the perfect time to slow down and take your time learning about local traditions from the people who live in our region.

Our Greeters are locals who love their homeland and have their own themed tours to introduce you to it their way.

5. Don’t get into bad habits

Doing your bit for the environment isn’t just for home. Keep it up on holiday too. We don’t need much light here, we make the most of our natural sunlight and save our precious water.

It couldn’t be simpler to recycle: here is some recycling advice and the nearest centre to where you’re staying!

Bonus: our Tourist Information centres collect bottle tops and batteries on behalf of local charities. Get involved!

Our Family Guide is packed with family-friendly activities as well as tips and fun games to help children and grown-ups do their bit for the environment.
